Found it!

I have been looking for the right (OK, perfect) pair of basic flat sandals for as long as I can remember. I even talked about it once here. I left my last pair of worn out flat sandals (metallic from Nine West) in our hotel room in Bahamas back in September. Sun, sand and salt water are murderers, I tell you! So, I have been becoming extremely anxious this spring: “what if I can’t find the right pair of flat sandals? I have nothing to wear!” But my search finally beard fruit and my prayers were answered, back in March when I found this pair of cognac Naya Sister sandals. I’ve been wearing it almost exclusively this last couple of months. The leather is gorgeous and soft, the straps adjustable and the shoes absolutely comfortable.
Now, there is that rule to live by: “If the shoe fits, buy it in very color.” You know me, I am a sucker for rules, therefore; I’m ordering a pair in Pewter too!

Mixed Media Necklace (DIY)

Remember I mentioned how much I’m loving these trendy mixedmedia jewelry? Well after 6 hrs of labor, extended over a period of three weeks (so what? I’ve been busy!), I finally finished my own version!
I used materials I had laying around. Thank you little sis for the ribbon BTW! The beads come from two broken bracelets. The chain is left over from another project. I started with the simple unadorned pendant which I’d gotten 6-7 years ago from Bowers museum gift shop (it was from Queen of Sheba exhibit). Then I added colored beads to the fringe, added the nickel chain, knitted the orange red tread and nickel beads, added the strand of red beads and sew the ribbon. And… it’s done!
I am happy with the result. Of course when I think the store versions are somewhere between 50 to 400 dollars, I feel ecstatic. Have I mentioned before I’m a bit of jewelry designer?!

Bag of the Month:

This tote has been my constant companion and daily bag for the last couple of months. This girl is nothing fancy. It came as a free gift with my perfume purchase from Givenchy about 10-11 years ago. It is made of 100% PVC, measures W 16”, H 11”, D6” with a shoulder drop of 14”. It has an outside front pocket and an outside side pocket and a zipper top. It is a bit shiny and as to be expected cheap looking! Even Givechy’s logo in front looks kind of fake!
But it has saved my life and shoulder from pain countless time these past 11 years or so, therefore it needs some appreciation.
This poor baby is an absolute slave! I had taken it on international flights, day long seminars and conferences. I have used it as a substitute gym bag at times and have filled it by books to the brim other times. These days, it contains my laptop, a stack of 15-20 papers I’m reading, my daily essentials (wallet, cardholder, 2 key chains, makeup, sunglasses, cellphone), an agenda, pencil pouch, my calculator, a cardigan, a bag of 100 calorie cookies and a couple of chocolate bars. Believe me when I say there is still room left for the kitchen sink!
My cheapo PVC tote, I love you!

Lust Objects:

Yeah, with no time (or money!) to go shopping, I am daydreaming about these beauties.
It’s been so long I’ve gone bag shopping. I am suffering from withdrawal!

No signal!

“…what? Only full length pants and covered shoes in the lab? Lab coats? Glasses?…. Hello?... (click…click…clack..clack…screeeeeeeeech.. craaaaaaaaaaaashshhhh…) hello? I can’t hear you… I’m working in the lab and have a couple of solutions to make…bye bye now!”

What I loved this week:

Multimedia necklaces. These beauties have so many materials combined, they look more like modern art that a necklace. I am so in love! Unfortunately their prices are also comparable to “Modern Art” as well. I think a DIY project is coming up. Just need a bit of time! (The pictures are from Shourouk and Anthropologie)

Waffles. For the last couple of months, it’s been the thoughts of my breakfast that has motivated me to leave my bed in the morning. They are specially good with apricot jam! And no, I don’t have time to make them myself. I just toast the store bought ones!
Driving shoes. Apparently this is a side effect of my “Back to classic” movement! Tod’s are great if a bit (or a lot!) on the expensive side.
