Camel and cream

I am taking advantage of these last few cool nights to wear my turtlenecks and heavier knits before our spring hits.

Winter whites

..well, mostly!
Getting into the spirit of winter wonderland (everywhere else in the world) despite our 70 degree weather, I went with mostly white pieces. It is fun to play at winter dressing without the frozen tundra of an actual winter!

Greens and golds

I wanted to visit Butterfly Wonderland as soon as I moved to Phoenix...and finally I did! Such a magical place, so many colors... I am in awe!
My mix of greens and beiges was pretty subdued compare to all the amazing colors on  those butterflies.

Burgundy and gray

Taking advantage of these last days of winter in AZ to wear my heavier coats. Let's put the focus on the burgundy for a change, no?

Toffee, chocolate and mocha

I normally don't do "Fifty shades of brown" but had to wear this turtleneck before the weather heats up and the turtleneck season passes. Yes, need must and all that!

Desperatly seeking color!

Has winter humdrums hit you too? are you also tired of the same old neutrals, black and gray? I have to add dusty green and blue to that list too. I need some color excitement.
And in case you were wondering... no, plum didn't help! Maybe if I wear head to toe plum?!! Hmmm...

Chambray tunic

Adding a pair of legging to a chambray minidress makes it winter-appropriate. Boots and coats complete the picture.

Purples and pinks

Should I say how perfectly everything matched? This one was one of those outfits that took a lot of digging into my closet and boxes at the last minute (30 minutes before leaving the house) to assemble. Initially I had planed to wear the sweater with black pants but that didn't work out.
Now, this? This is a beauty!

Classic combo

Camel coats and blue jeans are American classics, no doubt! Also I like to put my own spin on everything, no doubts again! So for this outfit I chose a pair of faded blue jeggings (which fit perfectly in my booties) and matched them with a long suede buttondown and a wrap camel coat. I like my camels set on the lighter milkier side of spectrum. What about you?

Plaid coat

I took stack of my coat closet and found out I hadn't bought any new coats last year which I took as permission to go coat shopping. So glad it's Sale season!
Anyhow, the possibilities with a plaid seem endless, don't they? For now, a monochromatic look allowed the coat to shine.

Leafy greens

Same color two days in a row? Truth is I couldn't stop myself after finding out the top is matching the background color of the pants' print exactly. Yes, I am that matchy matchy... it's a form of OCD!

For the love of Army (green)

I have come a long way in liking army/olive/moss green, from none to actually embracing this color family head to toe! Still I am very peaky about which shades I choose. Some shades don't like me, no matter how much I started to like them!
Mixing suede and leather and chenille and wool.... so perfectly tactile!

Jeans for Spring 2016

My extensive research into the subject has shown that jeans for the coming Spring season will fit (haha!) into three categories:


1- High waisted, flared, and shrunken enough for ankles showing
2- High waisted, flared, and long sometimes floor sweeping
3- High waisted, skinny, and shrunken enough for ankles showing.

Noticed the key words there? Easy!

Collutes for winter

I mentioned winterizing these collutes before. Here is an outfit for a night around 46 degree chill. BTW, that beanie has more of a poppy orange tint than red. Don't doubt my powers of color matching!
Are you seeing too much of my cozy turtlenecks? These days all I want to do is hiding under blankets, these big collar turtlenecks are pretty close substitute!

Navy..... Blue?

I was thinking about layering a navy turtleneck under a navy striped jersey dress when I remembered luckily I have a similar combination which is far more weather appropriate....and what you get when mixing white and navy? Light blue hopefully!

The power of down

Good thing I was forced to buy this down coat last winter. Even here in Phoenix there are nights, cold rainy stormy nights, when I wouldn't be able to leave the house without it. ...and when everything is gray and black, try a bright chili color lipstick!

Current favorites:

-MAC Matte lipstick in Taupe:
a wonderful neutral when you want a hint of color and perfect for bronze makeup.
-L'Oreal Paris Le matte lip crayon in She's so matte:
my perfect nude lip color! finally!
-Jimmy Choo original perfume:
A bit warm and woodsy but still light and not overwhelming. I like it for this cold winter weather.
-Neutrogena Norwegian formula hand cream:
The best remedy for dry winter skin, hands, feet, elbows,..

Watching out

Dressing up a simple outfit of corduroy leggings and turtleneck sweater for a trip to the movie theater. I am not ashamed to confess to loving animations... and eating French fries! A lot!

Low contrast colors

As much as I like the drama of contrasting colors, sometimes I like to cozy up in comfort and that means fluffy pieces you can hide in.

Ready for anything

The day started with our search for brunch, continued with a 140 miles drive to a local peak and wilderness park and ended with us at a steak house two miles from our house. Don't ask!

New Year

This outfit is deceptive, formal on the outside but comfy enough for a delicious lengthy dinner on the inside. I guess that's why black and gold are so popular, the illusion of formality!

New Highs!

Some combinations make you feel like a genius. combining this hi-lo sweater and the suede mini skirt had that effect on me. Hi and lo hemlines, hi and lo chroma saturations... Wow, I amaze myself sometimes! Yeah, yeah, so very self congratulatory on this New Year. Let's hope this new confidence holds up for the rest of the year!
