Swimsuits

I am not a big fan of swimming as I don’t know how to swim. Also I don’t like putting my head under water much (one of my cat-like characteristics). Therefore I haven’t been paying much attention to swimsuits. However, it is so hot here right now that all I can think of is a long leisurely soak in a pool. Since our current house doesn’t have a pool (it’s rental), I have to pursue my water fantasies while daydreaming about pools. But as long as we are daydreaming, let’s daydream about some gorgeous swimsuit too!

O summer nights

Yes, it’s not officially summer but so close, oh so close… specially when temperature at night is still around 95⁰…. And nothing says summer better than a cool white dress. Fuss-free, simple, light and chic… so chic!

What is with me, a white dress and soy sauce?! It’s like an automatic formula equaling disaster that I can’t avoid!

Super hot

When it is super hot even at 9:00 PM, you need something flimsy and cool. A little print goes a long way!

A good formula

Printed pants + simple top + minimal accessories = Comfortable casual party wear

Seeing these pants in Anthro’swebsite, I fell in love. I had to have them. It was a miracle I found the last one in my size at the store! They are made of Rayon but look and feel like silk. So good, so cool!

Pretty Little Details: Asymmetrical stud earrings

Little details make your style special and uniquely yours.  Mismatched stud earrings are something I’m liking recently. They are understated and personal, special and cute. Good thing is you don’t have to buy a readymade pair, you can buy two pairs with the motifs you like and mix and match!

Cool colors

We are slowly evaporating into this hot hot air! Afternoons are the worse. I went looking for a cool dress in a light color and found this (from Forever 21). Reminded me of mint leaves and shaded trees or maybe even an icecream. Cool enough for me!

Pretty Polishes

Shimmer and shine

For a celebratory dinner I wanted to be a bit festive but not over the top since it was only dear hubby and I. So an all white outfit got dressed up with shimmery subtle silver sequins (pearly sequins all over the lace top). Cute!

Effortless

My energy level is so low these days that even carrying my bag is a lot of effort. Blame the heat! I am wearing the lightest and loosest clothes I own and still feel like crawling or sinking into the ground. So very hot!

Whole lot of blue

I have been toying with the idea of a head to toe blue outfit. This one is just a trial run. Things will get much more blue later!

Black and mauve*

It was inevitable! Those black stripe on the side seams are to blame. Since the first moment I saw these pants I know I have to wear them with a black top!

* The color is called French Mauve on Loft website but in reality it is a bit darker, more cinnamon or clay.

The season for skirt

The pattern and details of this top were so cute that I wore all cream to keep the top as the focal point. Take my word on the top since the picture is not that good! The whole outfit looked very preppy in real life!

One for all

What I mean is one dress for all occasions. If there is no plan and your day takes you from a grill restaurant to a crowded down town and then to some upscale art galleries and finally to a busy coffee shop all in 97⁰ heat, this is the dress you want to have on. Fancy, casual, sweet, cool, light, chic, breezy, … just right!

Every time I wear this dress , I am glad I’ve purchased it although I was a little concern about its price tag at the time. Now I know it is worth every penny! (Worn with different colors: here, here, here, here, here, here)

Dusty blues

I haven’t worn this old (from 2009!) Anthropologie skirt for a few years because I couldn’t find a top to pair it with. One good thing that came out of this move to AZ is that I have my whole summer wardrobe on the hangers in the closet and right in front of my eyes. When I saw this skirt forgotten and in the corner I just had to find it a mate. What about this Anthro top from last summer? The blue-ish pattern goes vaguely with the skirt… aaand they match (or at least they don’t clash badly)!

The power of the bow

I wore this darling dress with new accessories. Usually I'd exchange the fabric belt for a leather one, but this time around I needed a dose of nice girly attitude. I made a big bow of this belt and enjoyed its strong statement. Yeah, it was that kind of a day, when you need a boost of self confidence.

The classics

When I've finally found the perfect white tank top, the trends change and crop tops become popular. No worries though, I can still wear mine with my poor forgotten Liberty jacket. You can’t overlook the classics, it’s simply not done!

All black

Since I did the full on white outfit, I thought it’s only fair to do a whole black outfit too. I try to avoid black and other dark colors during the day, it gets too hot! But it was night and it was cold so…

Minimalist white

I love my white jeans but I’m forgetting I own them since I don't wear them much due to the heat. As soon as I saw the forecast for today (cloudy, windy, mid 80 degrees), I knew I should wear white jeans. …aaand that is my life at present, praying for a cool breezy weather! I feel so uninspired!

Note the mismatched stud earrings. Yes, it was cloudy… no, there was no rain, just wishful thinking on my part!

Vanilla and mint

Which ice cream flavor is your favorite?  I have three: vanilla, mint and chocolate. It was so hot that I dressed thinking of ice cream, hoping to cool down a bit!

KISS

When it’s hot outside, I work based on KISS principles, Keeping It Simple. It has the added bonus of being light and breezy.

Into the blue

Sometimes that’s all you can do, wearing head to toe blue and going along with your day, pretending everything is perfect. Well, one step at a time… and no, that blue isn’t a hint for my mood or anything. It just happened!

 

The 100s

It is officially over 100⁰ which means the simplest and the most unrestricted of the dresses: a maxi tank dress.

Polka dot shirtdress

There is something overly feminine and traditional about this dress. When I have it on I feel like a 50s housewife. I fought the temptation to accessorize with navy or white and went for cream and pastels. Can’t decide if it was a good decision!

The tamed leopard

One way to wear a leopard print blouse is with faded boyfriend jeans and casual sandals. This outfit took out the formality of the top and tamed the print nicely for a low key outing.

Achromatic adaptation

I love a black and white look so much I can live my entire life in one, but I have a tendency to add a splash of color at the last minute. This time around I restrained myself to just red lips. Stay strong!
