Pool and Barbeque

Yeah, that sums it up! Good food and 5 full hours of fun, laughter and great friends! So this morning I slept in, so exhausted!

Party prep

Getting our pantry and house ready for its first party was hard work. Lots of last minute tasks, lots of stuff still laying around and lots of grocery shopping to do. I needed something comfortable to wear which wasn’t yoga pants and a tee per se but very close to it.

Turning red

Blue and white have become my go to colors this spring and summer but sometimes I still feel nostalgic for red. So I wear it a little (or a lot) usually at night. Here are two recent outfits:

Pretty Polishes

Just applied this pastel blue that goes great with the sky outside:

I feel quite civilized after a couple of weeks of broken nails and numerous paper cuts courtesy of our move.

Pattern mixing

I am not very good at pattern mixing but this dress needed something to pick up the navy and green pattern and make it look a bit more formal. Next time I match it with green accents if I can find green shoes.  

Refuge!

Seeking internet connection, I took refuge in the library and camped there for 5 hours straight.  That summery light jacket saved me from freezing.

In real life, my dress has a print more like a stained glass window. Very arty, very pretty!

Make do!

You have to make do when you are operating without half of your closet and almost none of you accessories and shoes. So certain shoes are worn over and over again. At least my steamer is functional so I can switch dresses!

In pursuit of…

These days are all about staying cool and finding Wifi . Something I really hate about moving is the process of setting up your life again when you are at the mercy of Cox Communication!

Sorry for disappearing! We are moving and have been without internet connection for a whole week! My life is in boxes, packed or unpacked! Hopefully we will have reliable internet connection and new postings by Tuesday.

Hawaiian Blue

This mint top matched the shorts' background color perfectly. Since I was dreaming about tropical beaches, I added the blue accessories to honor the ocean. I miss it, you know!

Dressing the part

Sometimes you need to project that you have the supporting role without coming across as a 50's housewife. I think this outfit conveys just that: feminine and a professional individual!

Add white

Trying to inject some cool into this outfit by adding white. Anything to battle this heat!

Blue lagoon

I had pool parties and margaritas on the brain last evening when I was getting dressed to go to dinner as you can clearly see in my outfit.

I can’t wait to move into our new house. I need that pool, stat!

Dominant print

Taking my cue from the shorts' print, I added a yellow top and white accessories to make this outfit. Not truly original but it was good enough. And sometimes that's enough!

Pretty Little Details: Raffia bags

It is summer, it is hot and that means straw or raffia bags. Anything else is too heavy, too formal, … simply too much! My little raffia clutch is falling apart and I’ve been keeping an eye out for a replacement. Something with pretty details, something light and also with prestige since I want to carry it to parties as well as an outdoor BBQ joint. A shoulder strap would be a nice addition. Something like these but much cheaper of course!

A tall order

When you go from tile and flooring stores to a fancy restaurant to your friends house, without having time to change, your outfit has to meet a whole lot of criteria. I guess this one did and was cool and comfortable enough to spend the whole day in!

Light as air

It is so hot that even the thought of wearing anything complicated scares me. Good thing I have this light silk dress, it’s the lightest airiest dress ever!

Poppy flowers

The poppy red color of this top is very eye-catching in real life. I knew it might be too much visually if paired with floral print pants but the temptation was too strong. They go together so perfectly, if not quietly. Sometimes it is good to go for a "more is more" approach. It makes you hard to be ignored!

A minty haze

"Hazed landscape" is actually the name of this top, a couple of years old and from Anthro (where else?!). Some pieces are meant to be worn together like they are made for each other, no matter where and when you purchase them. That was the case for this outfit.

Power shopping

The worst lie I tell myself is that I take my power walk in the mall. Instead of power walking I usually end up power shopping. Of course walking for 4-5 hours in heels with bags in my hands burns calories which I remedy with a caramel frappuccino (whip cream on top, extra caramel). All in all: a lose-lose situation!

Red hot

My life has become extremely simple: 1- wear something cool, 2- stay somewhere cool. Notice I said “simple” and not “easy”?  There is a big difference, a big one!

Plum florals

A loose silk top and floral shorts were my answer to 108⁰ heat. Although I rebelled and went for darker colors!
